Headless Wolf is deeply influence by my experience of becoming mother at the same time losing my father. I am sincerely facing the unbeatable power of fate and have been finding a beauty in these two side of life—birth and death. This project started in 2010, right after my daughter was born. I began an exploration through solo practice for the first three years, then invited a puppet, a puppeteer and dancers into the process to create a whole piece. Headless Wolf was premiered in October 2017 at Roulette in Brooklyn, New York.
Headless Wolf was created, in part, with a space grant from BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange with support from the Dance Rehearsal Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Headless Wolf was also made possible, in part, throughout The Movement Research Artist-in-Residence Program, funded, in part, by the Jerome Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Davis/Dauray Family Fund. Headless Wolf was created with commissioning support from Gibney Dance with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation.
